'Well done, you good and faithful servant!'

This site is a tribute to Revd John B Glover. He is much loved and will always be remembered by family, friends, and those who's lives he touched through the various ministries he was involved in.

Thoughts

We met in 1984 when I became minister at Upholland. John was an able and enthusiastic Local Preacher - if his hands were amputated, he would lose the power of speech! Planning All Age Worship together was creative and fun and there was someone prodding me to encourage John to offer for ordained ministry. Dorothy has always been his quiet, constant support. I was privileged to be the assisting minister at John’s ordination. John’s powerful voice and infectious laugh have been silenced yet his influence remains in places and people. My thoughts are with you, his family, and with those gathering today; my prayers are of gratitude for having known this character with a huge personality and for John’s family. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. Marian Jones

John and Dorothy's arrival at Norton Chapel was a great blessing. They brought encouragement and energy which boosted our confidence to try new things. We will particularly remember John for his Easter WOW‼ David and Beatrice Spybey

A big, booming voice of calm: The Glovers came into my life when John became the minister of Chesham Methodist Church when I was in my mid-teens. John was an incredible man, guiding us all with such enthusiasm for life and an infectious joy; his years at our church were by far some of my favourite! One thing I always remember his is powerful voice that had the ability to command everyone’s attention but in such a way that you felt nothing but love and calm wash over you. He gave me advice when I was a questioning teen and supported my family in all that we did through CMC. Another of my favourite memories of him was when he and Jon played comedy guards in one of our pantomimes and they performed a rousing rendition of ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’ together!! They were hillarious and it was wonderful to have them join our little drama group! It must be terribly sad for his family to lose him but they can be comforted to know that the impact if his life has reached this now 31year old who has moved to Somerset. His influence reaches across counties! He’s the type of man and minister that I will now tell my own daughter about; his big booming voice still talks to me and he is missed.
